Hey! Where'd everybody go?
Well, due to a miscommunication with Ellwood Thompson's Market, we were the only ones to show up. The Folks at Ellwood's were gracious enough to let Rona and Cole set up any way, confusing more than a few patrons. Lots of questions but no sales, and Cole played and sang, so it wasn't a total loss. The upside is that they will be at the Forest Hill market with lots of cheese.
Hope to see you there

Farmers Market time!
Rona and Cole have been doing the Farmer's Market Tour in Richmond for the last week or so. The response has been good and we've sold out of all of our current supply of honey, and the Asparagus are gone as well. The Cheese is in full swing and is getting snapped up as quick as Rona and Cole can wrap it.
On May 19, They will be at the Bryan Park Farmer's Market from 3:30 to 7:00 with our Black Pepper Rind, "Sandy Bottom" Cheese, and "Moonshine" which is wrapped in Corn Husks soaked in Corn Whiskey.
On May 20, They will be at the Ellwood Thompson's Market from 3:00-7:00 with
Sandy Bottom, Moonshine, Tidewater (Spiced with Garlic and Bay) and Blue Mountain (a delicious young Blue)
You're likely to get a chance to hear Cole performing his original songs as well, so stop by and say hello!

Spring means Bees
As Spring arrives on the farm, Rona starts thinking bees. Last spring we started our first hives, and they were a big success.
We were fortunate enough to harvest about fifty pounds of honey, which is not usual for a first year.
The hives are busy this spring gearing up for collecting nectar, and pollen, and making honey and lots of new bees.
As we prepare for adding supers, and catching swarms, (we caught three last spring), Rona decided to extract honey from some cappings she had frozen in the fall.
The pictures below show a makeshift procedure she uses in the kitchen so she doesn't have to break out the other equipment.
Lots of golden deliciousness for us, and as we get our practices refined, we hope to add our honey to our farm products.
